The Middlebury ski teams finished fourth overall with 546 points at the University of New Hampshire Carnival. Dartmouth won the event with 903 points, followed by UVM (845) and UNH (659). The men's alpine team highlighted day two with a second-place finish in the slalom. Carnival action continues next weekend as the teams take part in the University of Vermont Carnival.
Leading the men down Cannon Mountain in the slalom event was Rob Cone, who placed fourth overall with a two-run time of 1:47.31. Also earning a top-10 finish was Colin Hayes, who crossed the line in 1:47.60, good for sixth place. Riley Plant was Middlebury's other scorer on Saturday afternoon, finishing the race in 16th place with a time of 1:50.33.
The women's squad was paced by Jackie Atkins, who continues her impressive rookie season by placing 11th overall in the slalom (2:03.55). Middlebury's other two scorers finished behind one another as Katy Greene (2:07.68) and Lexi Calcagni (2:07.78) took home 17th and 18th places, respectively.
At the Jackson Touring Center, Lewis Nottonson led the Middlebury men's squad, finishing the 20K freestyle race with a time of 51:26, good for 13th place. Adam Luban was the next Panther to cross the line, earning a 20th-place finish in 52:11. Evan Weinman completed the scorers in 25th, coming in with a time of 52:51.
Katie Feldman was the top female finisher for the Panthers in the 15K freestyle event, placing 23rd overall in 46:15. Middlebury's other two scorers finished back-to-back, as Orli Schwartz (48:02) and Cate Brams (48:04) placed 38th and 39th, respectively.
