Middlebury won its season-opener as they earned a 74-57 win at St. Joseph's of Vermont. The Panthers opened the game on a 15-2 run, sparked by seven points from Evan Thompson. St. Joseph's hung tough and trailed 34-23 at the half. Middlebury extended its lead to 13 in the second half before a 7-2 run cut the lead to six with 11:04 left to play. The Panthers slowly increased their lead, leading by 10 or more for the remainder of the game.
Evan Thompson ended the night with 16 points and 10 rebounds, Sam Daly scored 11 with seven boards, while rookie point guard Ben Rudin scored six and dished out eight assists. Fellow rookie Kyle Dudley added 11 points in the win, as the Panthers picked up eight blocks and eight steals on the night.
